HyperSnap (formerly called HyperSnap-DX) is a software to create screen captures. It offers all the appropriate options: capture full screen, a selected region with the mouse, a Windows box, and so on. Various modes can be activated from the menu or with a keyboard combination.
HyperSnap however, is not so interesting for the capture options generic. From this point of view, software as SnagIt or PicPick are much better. HyperSnap but offers options for capturing special, for multimedia applications such as video players, video games or DirectX.
HyperSnap also have a very useful option called TextSnap text capture, which allows you to capture a portion of text from an image, a web page, or an object such as a window or a button, and turn it into a text file easily editable. Does not always work, but when it does it is very useful.
